Guess what, I'm going back to India today! Unfortunately just for 2,5 weeks, but there wont be any posts until I come back.
Happy Easter!

DIY Silver Square Earrings

As I mentioned previously I love minimalistic design, although it's hard for me to dress minimalistic. I always get distracted by all those wonderful clothes outside but I do believe that it's so much more impressive to make an outfit work without unnecessary things. I kind of got rid of too much colour on me, which doesn't mean that I'm not getting crazy about the dresses in Pushing Daisies anymore! Most of the time I wear black combined with silver jewelry, especially rings. I nearly don't wear earrings, simply because I couldn't really find any I like.
This changed yesterday!

I cut two squares out of a piece of metal I got at modulor and drilled the edges, then glued the squares on some old earrings. (Tools I used: metal shears, Proxxon drill, sandpaper)

DIY Rhinestone Peter Pan Collar

Another collar and again rhinestones! I'm actually not that much of a glitter type when it comes to clothes but somehow I like to make glittery things, especially glittery things around the neck.
The other weird habit I have is that I always plan those big and time-consuming DIY's and most of them end up in some corner of my room, waiting to be finished. I actually thought that this DIY may end up the same way as well. But against my expectations I did finished this collar after maany many hours of sewing.
And that's what I did: I used two layers of white cotton for the base, sewed the rhinestones on it, added a black ribbon on each side and covered the back with black felt. Sounds easy, but takes so much time!

(Wonderful Indian bedsheets, I know)

Be inspired by Grimes

For me Inspiration can be anything. It can be a material, it can be a designer or an artists. Of course music is an important factor as well. The most interesting musician is probably Claire Boucher, better known as Grimes. I don't really know how to describe the music she's making because there's no one to which I could compare her. She's calling her genre the "ADD-music" and wikipedia is labeling it as indietronica, experimental, dream pop, dark wave, synthpop, industrial. Grimes is not only popular for her music but also for her extraordinary style when it comes to fashion. I recently discovered that Grimes was modelling for Iris van Herpen's first ready-to-wear collection Phy-tha-go-rash. Despite that she has some inspiring music videos (which are also directed by her). I know people think her music and especially her videos are strange but listen yourself!
